Simply put, LCSC is an outreach and renewal movement in the parish, for the parish and by the parish. LCSC is the St Luke’s Catholic Community (SLC) members’ response to Christ’s on-going call to conversion, renewal, evangelisation and mission. We want to become a community fully alive in Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, under the patronage of Mary our Mother and Saint Luke the Evangelist.

Apart from the all-important aspects we already receive as Catholics such as, but not limited to, the Sacraments and the Bible, LCSC aims to help members receive the power of the Holy Spirit and grow in holiness. A Spirit-filled Christian life is an empowered Christian life. Such is very important in growing in holiness, in vibrant worship, for building community, for service to the Church. Holiness is one key aspect that is necessary if a Christian is to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Just as Christians have a covenant with God, by which God reveals to us that He is our God and we are His people, LCSC has a covenant which members voluntary enter into to describe the important aspects of our relationship with God and the commitments that we make to Him. Our covenant is a concrete and constant reminder of God’s call to us.

LSCS is open to all adult membersof SLC, both young and old. Everyone is welcome to come as you are in our meetings and gatherings. People who have not gone through a Christian Life Seminar (CLS) will be encouraged and invited to do so. The CLS is short course intended to lead the participants into a renewed understanding of God’s call to them as Christians. The CLS will help bring participants to a personal relationship with Jesus and get them started living a truly Spirit-filled Christian life. It is about transformation in Christ and renewal in the Spirit. For those who have gone through a CLS or a similar programme like the Christian Life Programme and the Life in the Spirit Seminar, there is no need to go through the CLS. However, if you feel the need for another renewal experience through the CLS, then you are more than welcome to join one of our CLS.

The CLS is just the start of our life-long walk with Jesus, as we look to on-going transformation in Christ. In order to grow, much more is needed – learning more about the Christian life, the strength and support of others, having an environment where one can serve God, being leaven in the parish community. After the CLS, the participants are invited to continue their journey with and through the LCSC movement.

Members meet together every fortnight for prayers, sharing, teaching and fellowship. The members will receive on-going teachings and support through various activities and opportunities. The format of the meetings may vary from time to time but they will always remain faithful to the key aspects of LCSC.

At some point, members will be encouraged to participate in parish service or ministry and LCSC will facilitate and support our members in their parish service or ministry. The LCSC will also work with and alongside other SLC parish groups so we can benefit from each other’s gifts for the benefit of both members and the groups.

We have many more ideas about and plan for LCSC but it is simply not possible to put them all here. But more than that, there is simply no way to know everything that the Spirit can and will do in and through LCSC over time.
